Vein treatment

Modern medical sciences provide many treatments of varicose veins as well as spider veins, ranging from simple home treatments like wearing compression stockings to complex medical procedures like Sclerothapy, the old and primitive hook removal surgery, the more advanced TriVex System, which makes use of the specially programmed illumination system under the skin that accurately detects the defective vein, Endovenous laser treatment or the intense light burst method. These methods all have benefits but are not immune to risks. Let us examine those in detail in the following paragraphs.

Benefits of these procedures are vast. Only small surgical incisions are needed to perform these operations and they do not need to be stitched closed. When compared to primitive methods, modern techniques offer less pain and lesser complications. The process is generally safe and rarely leaves a scar. The process is permanent and the patient can resume normal activities immediately after the operation with no or little pain.

Having discussed the benefits, let’s come to the risks. Probability of infection, however small, does exist. Damage to blood vessels that may cause severe bruising and bleeding is another major worry. postoperative bruising and tenderness may occur. In laser treatment, thermal damage to nerves is a rare but reported threat. Thrombophlebitis (inflammation of the vein) is not uncommon and may cause pain and redness over the treated area.
